Our annual Show & Tell meeting is one of the more popular topics that we have for meetings, and all members are encouraged to participate by bringing in something that they have made but have not previously shown in a Show & Tell meeting. There are no limits on what you can share — old work or new work; big or small; functional, decorative, or whimsical; shop fixtures and tools; a group project or something that you’ve toiled on alone; you get the idea! We just want to see what you’ve been up to…
The meeting will be a hybrid meeting with the option to present a project in person at The Backchannel School of Woodworking or virtually via Cisco WebEx.
- For those who plan to attend the meeting in person, there are always plenty of hands available to help you unload pieces that may be too large/heavy/awkward for you to manage by yourself. If you have a piece that’s too large to bring in but you’d still like to physically attend the meeting, you are welcome to bring photos to the meeting (emailing them ahead of time is ALWAYS better) where they can be projected onto the large screen and you can describe the work to us. Details for using photos or PowerPoint-type slides at the physical meeting can be found below.
- For those presenting online via WebEx, this offers a good opportunity to show a piece that is too large to easily/safely bring in, is attached to your house, or possibly is at a friend’s or relative’s house. Oh, regular-size things are also completely welcomed for WebEx presentations. Any project that you have completed or are still working on will be fine…we simply want to see what you’ve made! Details on how to show your work from a remote location while using WebEx can be found below.
As in previous years and as an added incentive to participate, we will have some door prizes (Rockler and Woodcraft gift certificates and/or products that all woodworkers would like!) to give out. We won’t be voting on specific prizes (i.e., 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) since there’s no easy way to do that, but for every person who participates by showing something that they’ve made, their name will be “thrown into a hat” and winners of the door prizes will be randomly selected from the hat. If you simply want to attend/join the meeting to see what your brothers and sisters have been up to, that’s fine, too, but it would be great to have LOTS of participants.
If you’re bringing your project(s) to the Show & Tell meeting and don’t have photos to present, you can stop reading now.
