Most woodworkers know of the iconic Sam Maloof chairs with their sinuous curves that flow seamlessly from one part into the other. In order to achieve the curved features around the joint, Maloof needed to fashion an entirely new joint to connect the various components together. By simply analyzing the finished chair, the construction of the joint is not readily intuitive.
Steve Shenefiel, an amateur woodworker and part-time employee at Woodcraft, has adapted the Maloof joint for use in a chair and stool that he has designed and built. He will present a program to us on how he makes this unique joint. Steve will take us through the workflow as well as demonstrate the important steps with mock ups and a live demonstration. Our good friends at Woodcraft have offered to host this meeting in their Canonsburg, PA store.
