Let’s face it, we are suckers for woodworking tools and products. Sometimes it’s a win and sometimes it’s a lose when we acquire a new one. Kinda like getting a full-sized Snickers in the Halloween bag and other times a tiny box of off-brand raisons.
So, let’s talk it out…
For our October meeting we’d like to have a group presentation on how you’ve been “tricked” or “treated” in some previous purchase. Please bring in an example of either/both (the item itself, or a photo, or just talk about them) to share with the rest of us.
On the positive side — Your research was dead on. You were pleasantly surprised by something you settled on, or even the do-dad from the Christmas stocking that caused an eye-roll but now finds its way onto the workbench more then you initially thought possible.
On the negative side — Buckle up and come clean. It happens to everyone. The silent judgement from the group is a lot easier to take than what you might get from your spouse. And you might learn something from the feedback.
We’re looking for as much participation as possible, so for anyone who participates by taking a turn in sharing their shame/frustration, or their surprise/joy, we’ll put your name in the hat for a chance to win one of two $25 Rockler gift certificates provided to us courtesy of our friends at the local Rockler store (thank you, Vince Fricke, for your continued support of our club!). C’mon, let us know if that Temu purchase was really everything that they claimed, or how often you use and love that special little “toy” you just couldn’t resist the last time that you were at Rockler. These can be recent purchases or things that you’ve had around forever… please just share your experience with your fellow woodworkers.
