Our March program will be on sharpening. However, this time we are making it interactive. Members will walk around to different stations and have the opportunity to see 4 or 5 different types of sharpening. We hope this will be an interesting way to learn new skills and interact with other members.
As an example, Dave DeYoung will demonstrate sharpening plane irons and chisels with waterstones. The use of a grinding wheel to put a hollow ground edge will be demonstrated. Shop-made jigs will be used in the grinding process. Flattening of the waterstones will be discussed, followed by a demonstration of honing the edge. This efficient technique will quickly get you back to working wood.
As usual, coffee and donuts start at 09:30.
